Notices to Candidates

The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) is a membership organisation comprising the eight largest providers of qualifications in the UK.  The JCQ provides a single voice for its members on issues of examination administration and, when appropriate, qualification and wider education policy.

Candidates must read the notices to candidates prior to starting any non-examination assessments, course work, onscreen tests or sitting examinations. This information is shared with Year 10 to Year 13 students and parent/carers in September, and ahead of any exam series including internal exams.

Summer 2026

Summer 2026 exam timetables will be issued to students in April.  If you want to check exam dates before then, please use the awarding body timetables that are listed below.  Subject specification details are listed on the ‘exam board information’ documents in the General Information section above.  For Summer, students should remain available from 7th May 2026 until 24th June 2026.  Students that take subjects that may have a practical element to the qualification or non-examination assessment, should check with their subject teacher when assessments will be taking place.

Summer 2026 – Contingency Information

The awarding bodies have collectively agreed contingency date for Summer 2026 as Wednesday 24th June 2026.  Students should remain available up to and including this date, regardless of their last exam being sooner.  The contingency dates are in the event of national or significant local disruption to exams in the United Kingdom, being part of the awarding bodies’ standard contingency planning for exams.

Internal Exams (Mocks)

All assessments sat under formal exam conditions may be used for Ofqual resilience processes should Summer 2026 exams not go ahead as planned and allow students to still receive valid results.  They may be used in supporting the collection of evidence for performance and ability if teacher assessed grades were required.  Any subsequent assessments sat under formal exam conditions may supersede previous data.

Certificate and Result Information

If you are unable to collect your results or certificates yourself, you may nominate someone to collect them on your behalf.  Please email the exams officer with information on who will be collecting your results/certificates or you can complete a Third-Party Collection Form .  The person collecting will need to photo ID of their own with them.  Alternatively, you can have your results posted home.  You will need to send a stamped-addressed envelope to school reception for the attention of the Exams Officer and they will be sent on the day of release of results.

Certificates are only required to be kept by us for a minimum of 12 months.  After this time, the school can destroy any uncollected certificates.  Please contact the Exams Officer to check if we still hold your certificates, if we do not, information on obtaining replacement certificates can be found here.  Not all awarding bodies offer a replacement certificate service.  In such circumstances the awarding body will issue a Certifying Statement of Results.  Where either a replacement certificate or Certifying Statement of Results is issued, it will provide an accurate and complete record of results for all qualifications covered by the original certificate.

If we no longer hold a record of your qualifications, you should be able to access information on your personal learning record – more information can be found here.

Post-Results Services

After each external exam series, awarding bodies offer a post-results service.  Candidates will be informed about the services available and how to access them.  There are procedures in place and deadlines we must follow as set by the awarding bodies.

Services Available for Summer 2025 exam series:

Post-Results Service

Details of the Service

Service 1:

Clerical re-check

This service will include the following checks: that all parts of the script have been marked; totalling of marks; the recording of marks.

DEADLINE:

School must receive request by 22nd September 2025 to make the awarding body deadline of 25th September 2025.

Service 2:

Review of marking

This is a post-results review of the original marking to ensure that the mark scheme has been applied correctly.  Reviewers will not re-mark the script.  They will only act to correct any errors identified in the original marking.  This service will include: the clerical re-checks detailed above in Service 1; a review of marking as described above.

DEADLINE:

School must receive request by 22nd September 2025 to make the awarding body deadline of 25th September 2025.

Priority Service 2:

Review of marking

(A Level and L3 vocational ONLY)

This is the same as Service 2, but the original marking is reviewed as a priority, therefore a request for this service must be submitted to the earlier deadline.  This service is only available for GCE and Level 3 VTQ qualifications.

DEADLINE:

As soon as possible to make the awarding body deadline of 21st August 2025.

Access to Scripts:

To support review of results

This is a priority service to ensure copies of marked scripts are provided in sufficient time to allow decisions to be made whether a review of marking or clerical re-check should be requested.

DEADLINE:

As soon as possible if a further review of results service is required to allow sufficient time for scripts to be checked and services applied for.

To proceed with a post-results service for Summer 2025, the student must complete the online consent form and confirm they understand there is no grade protection.  Where the student is one/two marks away from the next grade boundary, the school will pay the fees.  If the student is three or more marks away, you will need to cover the exam boards fees (below).  The price is per paper and payment must be made before the review of results request is processed e.g. GCSE Maths has three papers, the fee will be £43.50 x 3 = £130.50.  This will be refunded if the grade is raised.
