21st-25th June is Diversity Week at GSHS. We will be celebrating Diversity Week at GSHS and students will have the chance to learn about the importance of diversity in different sessions throughout the week. PDR sessions will be focused of LGBT+ equality and RS lessons will focus on celebrating diversity in our school community. You will also be able to take part in our Rainbow Friday event at the end of the week.
What is the progress flag?
The Progress Flag was created in 2018, designed to update the existing rainbow Pride flag. The design incorporates the colours of the trans flag (white, pink, light blue) and black and brown stripes to represent LGBT+ people of colour. Both groups face disproportionate levels of discrimination, face unique challenges and have histories that other members of the LGBT+ communities don’t. The flag draws attention to these and encourages us to fight for the equal rights of everyone
Rainbow Friday at GSHS
Show your support for #SchoolDiversityWeek by dressing up on Rainbow Friday on the 25th June.
Wear a colour – or several colours – of the Progress Flag.
This does not mean own clothes day - you could wear a tie, socks or other appropriate accessories.
BHC celebrated Rainbow Friday last week before they left for study leave too!
